Our Life Together

Wednesday Mid-Week Worship

"Who is my neighbor?" will be the theme for this summer's mid-week service. We will attempt to explore all of the dimensions of what it is to be a good neighbor. Each week, we will focus on a different facet of the jewel that is neighborliness through conversation with special guests. Come for dinner between 6pm and 7pm. Stay for worship at 7pm. The themes for the summer are as follows:

Date Theme: “Who is my neighbor ...” Guest
6/23 “...and what is my neighborhood?” Rob Mattson; District Coordinator, Ballard Neighborhood Service Center
6/30 “...who makes me to feel at home?” Lindsey Lund; Compass Housing Alliance
7/7 “...who is not from around here?” Pastor Jimmy Hao; Grace Chinese Lutheran Church
7/14 “...that I take for granted every day?” Clare Brauer-Rieke; Earth Ministry
7/21 “...who causes me to feel fear, discomfort, or resentment?” Helen Christ, mother of Mary Kay Hilmoe. Helen was detained in a concentration camp in World War II because of her Japanese ethnicity.
7/28 “...who does not have a home?” Rick Friedhoff; Executive Director, Compass Housing Alliance

Come for food, for worship, for art, for stimulation, for music, for the fun of it!

BFL Movie Night

The world famous BFL Movie Night returns on Sunday evening, June 27th, at 7:00pm in Haavik Hall. Come join us in watching the movie, "Invictus," starring Morgan Freeman, Matt Damon, and Clint Eastwood. The film tells the inspiring true story of how Nelson Mandela joined forces with the captain of South Africa's rugby team to help unite their country. Newly elected President Mandela believes that he can bring his racially and economically divided country together through the universal language of sport by rallying his country's underdog rugby team as they make an unlikely run to the 1995 World Cup Championship match. All are welcome to join us for a great movie, fellowship, and discussion. For questions or more details, please contact Tom Tocher at tocher@juno.com or 206-527-0369.

ReNew Vacation Bible School!

ReNew Vacation Bible School is coming to BFL this summer! Mark your calendars for the week of July 12-16 from 9 am to noon. Preparations and plans are already underway for BFL to host VBS together with Queen Anne Lutheran Church. This week-long adventure is for ages three years old through children entering 5th grade. All are invited to come and be a part of the fun. We will learn about the ways in which Jesus calls us to care for creation through arts and crafts, outdoor games, music, storytelling, snacks and more. Cost is $20 per child, with a family cap of $50. Registration forms are available in the narthex and basement or you can download them here. In order to help us plan, please register by June 20. Volunteers are needed to teach, provide snacks, work in the kitchen, help with decorations, and more. Please consider how you can help with this exciting ministry for children! Invite your friends and neighborhood children. Contact the church office at BFL at (206) 784-1306 with questions or for further information.
